My name is Eric Behne. I’m a mechanical engineer and small-business owner with a passion for elegant design solutions, classic cars and the great outdoors. Born and based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
After graduating with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I went on to work as a design engineer in the cycling industry. I worked with a variety of materials and manufacturing processes to produce novel new components for high-end road racing and mountain bicycles. Expertise included design of composite materials, design for manufacturability and delivering products on time and meeting budgetary constraints. My passion for design doesn’t end with engineering. In 2015 I designed and built a photo-booth business along with my wife that operates out of our custom built 1971 Volkswagen Bus. We add a unique touch to any corporate event or wedding. More information on Bay Area Fotowagen can be found here

When I’m not designing something, I enjoy working on our family’s classic cars. In addition to our 1971 VW Bus, we have a 1977 Porsche 911 and a 1961 Volkswagen Beetle that always provide an opportunity to get covered in motor oil. When cars are finally all in order, I enjoy mountain biking, camping, canoeing and river rafting.
